| Urban Insert to Integrate Transgenders|

This thesis is an attempt to integrate transgenders into South Indian society. In Chennai (part of South India), there has been a stigma against transgenders since time immemorial, due to their unique exhibition of both male and female characteristics. This project aims at their integration into society-via both an architectural and master planning solution.

The relocated bus depot is now integrated into the proposed high rise building design. The road of access and exit for the depot now passes through the site and around the building, with valuable frontage originally given to bus parking now given to the facade of the building, as well as an open park for the public as well as the residents, who occupy the higher floors of this mixed use residential building. Also, green terraces have been provided on the floors where it gets offset.
